Warming up, heavy style?
Do you guys have any tips for a drummer to warm up if you're a heavy hitter? I've been at gigs and warming up on a practice pad, resulting in pretty much nothing.
Because the worst problem I have is a sore left hand/wrist after the first one or two songs. I play a lot of rim shots... The rest of my body is fine.
So do you guys have any idea how to warm up the left hand/wrist for the heavier stuff? I really hate the feeling of numbness after one or two songs and it takes a few more songs to recuperate from it, until I'm fully warmed up, so I can't always perform at my fullest until after a bunch of songs.
Some insight or help would be appreciated!

Running. Seriously. Warms the whole body up and gets the blood flowing everywhere. I run around the block a couple of times before I play and it helps.

Do 40 or 50 pushups, moves the blood around, works the wrists too depending on your form.
Fall down seven times, get up eight.
