Live at the Batera Clube Room Brazil PLEASE READ EVERYONE!!
I just watched a teaser clip on Youtube for Virgil's performance "Live at the Batera Clube Room Brazil". I was reading the comments section, and someone said in the comments that this DVD would only be available for "Batera Clube's drumshop customers in Brasil". Many of us have responded (including amazing drummer and fellow Dream Theater audition drummer Peter Wildoer) saying that we would like to purchase the DVD.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make this DVD available for EVERYONE to purchase!! Virgil, Christopher, Morgenthaler, whoever can help with this, please know that we would all LOVE to see this DVD. It looks simply amazing, not only with the performances, but the interviews and the sections where Virgil is explaining grooves and stuff. I have been anxiously awaiting the next installment of the Bootleg Series, and this would be a GREAT addition to the series. I would even be willing to wait for it, if i knew that it would eventually be released. By the way, is there any news on when the next video for the Bootleg Series is going to be released? PLEASE EVERYONE RESPOND TO THIS THREAD AND TELL VIRGIL AND THE ADMINISTRATORS HOW MUCH WE WANT TO SEE THIS DVD!!!

I recorded this dvd with the agreement that no more than 30-40 minutes would be released for the use of Bateras Club for their customers. I will have the option to view and release the rest of the recording at my discretion. No promises until after I review....

But isn't it expectable that those 30-40 minutes will show up in the internet shortly after releasing them in the shop? Or is that cool with you? I just thought then at least those 30-40 min could as well be release to the whole wide world by the shop

Thanks for clarifying, Virgil! You shouldn't be concerned about the quality of the DVD, if that's what you are reviewing it for...your drumming will be perfect as always!!

Nice comment Mgray!! even though Virgil's execution of the Planet X songs and his exercises will be delivered precisely, any artist, especially at Virgil's caliber would also want high quality audio that has been mixed & mastered to the highest quality..because even that will take this DVD to new heights {sonically speaking}

yeah, i definitely understand, but also in my opinion, if you can't get good sound out of the recording, then you just can't. it is what it is. the recording has been done, and there's only so much you can do after the fact, with mastering and mixing. i would rather see one of virgil's performances with bad sound and video quality than to not see it at all. i don't think i can say that for any other musician on earth. not even one second of virgil's playing should be discarded simply because of the sound or video quality ![]()

This is out, apparently. I saw it at a gig tonight (Holdsworth/Donati/Haslip). Didn't have enough cash to buy it, but it was there, 20 euros. Unless it was a different Brazilian show of Virgil playing Planet X songs, but probably not.

I bought the DVD when I saw Virgil with Allan Holdsworth and Jimmy Haslip. I think the DVD is awesome, but I was honestly expecting it to be different. I thought there would be more "behind the scenes" stuff. For example, in the YouTube preview video, it shows Virgil talking with someone and twirling his sticks and talking with fans, and I thought all of that footage would have been included, and it wasn't. Also, the "solo" is chopped up into clips, and not one continuous solo from beginning to end. I was a little disappointed at this, but maybe Virgil wasn't happy with some parts of the solo, which I can understand. I had Virgil sign the DVD too, which is a plus

That's great.
I sometimes wonder what parts of any solo Virgil is unhappy with. I mean, even if he's making mistakes all over the place, it's still better than what 99,999999% of the rest of us can play anyway. ![]() So that DVD is basically just a few PX songs and some solo clips? I think 20 euro's is a bit on the expensive side then? Compared to Stockholm? |
