Power drumming!!
hello again Donati Forum member's.... it has been a while since i last visited...
i just recieved a Virgil Donati Power Drumming Video from a friend.............aaaaarrrrrrghhhh... YIKES! why didn't any body tell me that Virgil was A MONSTER!!! AAAAAAARRRRGGH!!! well now I want to know.... (i hope Virgil reads this) How does He feel about Vinnie's Drumming... any articles of Him commenting or talking about the GREAT V. Colaiuta.. (of course, i also want to know how does Vinnie.... blah blah) Influeces... who are Virgils Influences, it's impossible Colaiuta not being one of them.... a personal question... how old is Virgil exactly? thanks...

Virg really DIG"S Vinnie's playing as you might imagine. There is much mutual admiration and respect from one to another. Early influences for Virg were Steve Gadd, Tony William's, Billy Cobham, Narada Michael Walden, Philly Joe Jones etc. Today Virg enjoy's Vinnie, Weckl, Chamber's, Marco, Lang to name a few. That video is quite old just IMAGINE! what level Virg is playing at today

yes, it's true, virgil does have a thing for vinnie. ive heard this from modern drummer, so, im sure its true. in my oppinion, vinnie and virgil both seem to have something in common. not only do their first names start with "v" but they both seem to have a similar technique, from what ive seen. well, atleast it was similar back in the day, but virgil has experimented with different kinds of music since then, and we all know he's changed a lot. i mean, its virgil donati, he's come a long way! i mean christ, came out in 95 didnt he?! he is kicking some major ass!!

ive been doing some video hunting (obsessive rhythms video) lately... i cant seem to find it on sale...
i dont know if im doing it wrong... i tried "google" and "amazon"... no luck at all... maybe somebody in here can help? thanks in advance...

it's only in PAL format from there though

I play along to it, but not the whole video, just the bit up to the double strokes, but I use Power Drumming to push my speed, atm I can get up to his max tempo on the vid, but once I reach it, I cant keep it for 16 bars, so what I do is little spurts of speed, eg. RLRL RLRLRLRL RLRL RLRLRLRL, I will expand the amount of double "RL's" as I get more comfortable with the speed...! Just wwas wondering how other people approached it!

tulong naman, hina-hunting ko yung isa pang video ni Donati, yung Obsessive Rhythms... may nakita ako kaso $45 Australian , di pa kaya... at PAL format pa.. dilikado dahil sometimes di compatible sa mga players dito sa Pinas..  I bet meron ditong member na may kopya... baka may contacts ka?
