I can't believe that only two people so far have mentioned Gadd in their list! He should be at the top of everyone's list no matter what style you play! oh well.
Hey Lucius, are you from Australia man? Pete and Gordon are amazing aren't they? Did you seen Gordon on Australian Idol? I noticed Pete Drummond topped your list, I agree, and I know that the boardmembers from the States and around the world are going to be blown away when they see him play! I'm from Melbourne, by the way... |

'Gadd' is definetely one of the 'Greats' but don't forget that he doesn't have to be at the top of everyone's list. He might not have the same effect on you as someone else, it's all a question of taste. For example, i'm the only one who mentioned 'Robin Dimaggio' on my list. Cheers. |

Gadd is one of my "all time" faves but is not one of my current faves. Times change and so does the world of drumming. That being said Gadd is still a GREAT drummer.

I forgot about Gadd hehe, I just added him, over the past couple of days I have been adding new people haha. Scott H, Pete and Gordo rule!! I thought he did a monster of a job for Australian Idol, and I saw him play with Glue the other night, man, that went off! I had never seen him play live before, then I saw him, he is amazing, and his jazz playing really impressed me as well! I can wait for TUDW 2003 DVD to come out, I get lessons off Pete but I rarley get to see him blow on a kit, everytime I do, it kills me, but the guy is good at everything, he has an awesome pocket, great time, and he can chop out like nothing else, I cant wait for my next lesson!

I sincerely apologize to everyone who didn't put Steve Gadd on their list, i kind of went over the top with the "he should be on top of everyone's list" comment. I don't doubt that anyone here thinks he is great, but there are just so many guys around that are ubelievable now that we kind of forget the "old guys" (myself included!) Anyway, my favourites go like this, in no particular order...
Virgil Andrew Gander Vinnie Steve Gadd Steve Smith Art Blakey Buddy Tony Williams Elvin Jones Brad Wilk (from Rage Against the Machine and now Audioslave) Matt Cameron Anton Fig (from Dave Letterman) John Bonham Pete Drummond Gordon Rytmeister David Jones There are just so many great drummers that if I did another list in 5 minutes it would be completely different!
