Virgil Clinic in Australia with Rufus Philpot (1 of 4)

While on tour in Australia with my Super Trio in December 2005, Rufus Philpot and I held a bass/drum clinic at Drumtek in Melbourne. The auditorium at Drumtek comfortably seats around 80 people, so it was an initimate up close appearance. It was only the third time I've held a clinic with a bass player, the only other two times were with Billy Sheehan on the East Coast of the U.S. In this series of video clips, Rufus and I discuss various topics related to playing progressive music, and we perform and dissect several pieces of music. There is also some free form jamming. I have always stressed the importance of playing with other musicians, even if only one other musician. This series is evidence of how two musicians can interact, and work on ideas together, and also spontaneously interact and create some very musical moments.
