going to start working on an instructional dvd this week.
hey guys, i finally feel ready enough to start working on the foot technique dvd i wanted to make... im gonna start working on it this month and im gonna give myself till early september to finish it up.
my dvd is gonna look at : various technical approaches control excersices how to develop strong doubles my infamous speed workout blasting 101 , control and precision setting up your pedals to your advantage laying odd patterns down in 4-4 a brief kit solo by me and grooves from my band's songs etc... if anyone has any suggestions as to what i could incorporate into this dvd , let me know i want feedback from the best drummers out there, which is on this forum. looks good to me ... By doubles I hope you mean the double bass strokes on a single pedal (Weckl like) or? But promise the drummer community (lol) that you won't focus on how to reach the speed of light with your feet !!! just simple nice creative ideas ? ... Good luck with it !

i'm no "best drummer" but here goes :
you could also include a daily (or every other day) practice routine which is best for gaining and sustaining results, -by experience. good luck..

Instead of a brief solo how about at least 2 solos of a couple of minutes each.
The grooves idea is cool, but I'd like full songs also, hopefully with multiangle option. Good luck ICM

Sounds quite comprehensive to me. One question, will the odd patterns in 4/4 incorporate 8th/16th triplet patterns, or just 16th note patterns?
Good luck with it man, it should be quite interesting watch.

everything dude, just absolutely everything...when i play patterns, i like them a little slower, so i usually go with 8th note or triplet feel. of course, this dvd is gonna be mainly for the purpose of letting drummers understand the mechanics and pushing themselves. this dvd is not about me showing off at 260 bpm , im gonna be doing things slowly, probably between 150-200 , so that people can grasp the concept Last edited by IronCobraMan : 08-02-2006 at 07:48 AM. |

Between 100 and 150 will make it alot clearer to see and understand what you're doing, remember that alot of people can't even put down 150 solid

Sounds great! Quick question though, i know you said it's a foot technique DVD and that's kind of your thing, but with there be any demonstations of hand technique or at least you showing what technique you use?
Can't wait for it! |

I am looking forward to your DVD. You do not need to include hand technique in my opinion as most instructional material about drumming cares about hands mainly and not the feet.

exactly.... but my foot workout can be applied to hands , and it gives the same kind of results... speed ,control and power |
