S.S. Bozzio

Hey guys,

Have any of you seen Terry Bozzio's new drum setup?! This HAS to be THE worlds biggest drumkit... WOW!

You can see the mock-up in the August issue of Modern Drummer Magazine. It's in the "Drumkit of the month" section.

I wouldn't want to be HIS drum tech!!!

D.

There are on his lame-o message board.

It's an amazing set up. He needs that many toms because they're tuned to actual pitches...including accidentals.

Long ago, he did a show in which he had a big Rototom set-up that was laid out like a keyboard. I wonder why he doesn't just set up like that now?

The set shown on his website is not the one I'm speaking of. This new monstrosity is even bigger!

Some people may wanna' hit me, but... Euh... I already foud his other kit enormous.. but now it's ridiculous.

Anyway, by interest, could anyone explain to me Bozzio's actual approach to the set. I know he plays alone now, that he has great interdependence and also that he "orchestrates" his pieces through his kit... But what is his "philosophy" behind that ?

To make drums a more musical, and not so percussive instrument...?

Basically C.J.,

TB's Philosphy is based on firing from multiple ostinado patterns, using different styles of music, while also incorporating different melodic and ethnic approaches. These are actually fully orchestrated pieces, composed and performed directly from the drum set.
