Auxiliary Snare Drum/Chinas
Hey guys,
I'm buying an auxiliary/left-side snare drum soon, and don't know which dimensions and metal to choose. I'll stick with DW, by the way. Also, I need two chinas. I really liked the sound of Virgil's in the Vai DVD, although they were a little big for what I want to do (mostly quick accents). It seems they were stacked with some small splashes? Any advice? EDIT: Current snare is DW all-maple 14x5 with reinforcement hoops. |

As for the small china, I've always loved 14" Zildjian Oriental China Trashes. I owned a 15" Sabian AAXtreme chinese awhile back, and that sounded pretty good as well.

For the snare, I would suggest a 10x5! With a nice tight tunning ur gonna get a great POP sound of it! IF thats what ur looking for offcourse! And the chinas man,you said u wanted to make fast accents write? Why dont u get mikes stacks?? There perfet for fast "riding"! just a suggestion.

the 14" Oriental China sounds great... I know what sound you're talking about, cause I've always wanted a cymbal with that sound, my 18" was too big sounding... the Oriental sounds perfect for those quick accents... for some reason I always think about rap when I hear the quick chinas.
