they say so... he did still play gretsch recently, but I suppose time will tell
what's really true. As long as he goes on playing as awesome, everything is fine anyway .

it's official now and listed on his website.
he's been with Gretsch over 10 years I believe, and Zildjian even longer. Can't blame him for changing things up. really excited about the move to Paiste. Ludwig I know less about to be honest, and this does surprise me a little bit...but perhaps someone who knows their range could chime in with more detailed opinion. personally would have loved him back with Yamaha...I bet he would make the PHX kits SING anyhow, saw him with Sting a couple of weeks back and he killed it. I've seen him with a few acts now (herbie han***** five peace band) so it was nice to see the less fusion and more pop/groove side live. the ultimate consumate professional...nothing more needs to be said. Am sure Virgil must be a fan, being one of a few people in the world who probably fully appreciates and digests Vinnie's phrasing? Last edited by ataraxia : 04-12-2012 at 06:49 AM. |

haha that post above blocked out Herbie Hancock's name!! It's not profanity...just the name of one of the greatest living musicians.
Maybe if I write Herbie Hancook? I wasn't swearing...honest |

I have no doubt that whatever Vinnie plays
he will make sound good. Personally, outside of the hihats I don't think much of what Paiste offers sonically, but that's just me. As to Ludwig, their quality control has seemed to have really slipped in years past but they seem to be making a comeback with some pretty nice gear. They have always been among the top if not THE top metal snare drum makers in my book. Having Mr. Colaiuta on the endorsement bill sho' ain't gonna hurt nuthin. Having a true, all around, world class player pushing their product other than just the common 2 & 4 famous rock banger is a strong and decisive move by Ludwig to boost the confidence in their product through someone of Vinnie's calibur and expertise.... We'll see.

Paiste has a lot of different lines and sounds. And most are never in drum shops cause they are very expensive to stock. They have a complete range of sounds from jazz to whatever. I got a 20" Signature Full ride and I have recorded it and it sounds incredible for a whole slew of styles. And that is not even close to their traditional line or 602. |

To each his own, Drumblast. Paistes have always been a bit too 'tingy'
sounding for my personal taste. But if they work for you and others who play them and like them, then that's a good thing. Again, I have a set of their hi hats and I love them! ataraxia, Yes, Ludwig makes amazing metal snare drums.
