My kit sounds like crap, so using gels, at least it sounds close to tollerable.

i've never tried it. would you rate it better than the ring dampeners?

Virgil uses one on his snare, depending on the placement you can get different levels of dampening. I dont think you'd ever need two though with the right tuning and position.

ahh i see, just thick dampers with jel inside, right.
tissue paper and tapes do the trick for me though i rarely put such dampers on my drums unless i'm in a hurry to kill such overtones on other ppl's drumset. |

No it's actually sticky on the outside, so it stays where you put it People also say that you just have to wash and dry them when they get dirty and they are as good as new I've never used them before; I saw ICM's thread, got curious, did a search on google and went out to buy some. They didn't have any at the music store though I really want to try them. |

the great thing about them is they last forever if u take care of them....when they lose their stickiness, jus rince them in water.....
the reason i use 2 on my snare is cuz i play death metal .... so when im blasting , i like to have nice dry attack , and i get jus that...sounds alot better live, for this music anyways. |
