Istanbul Alchemy cymbals (opinions?)

I'd like to know what your opinions are on these cymbals; (the good and the bad) I've never played them, so I don't know anything about them. Are these on par with top of the line Paiste or Sabian cymbals? (which one would you choose?) I'm thinking of buying 2 crashes (would like a ride and Hi-Hat too, but I'm low on budget ) A 14" and a 16" medium crash would cost me €214; I think that's a good deal, because it's the professional series.
Any help would be appreciated.

Istanbul (both versions of the company, Agop and Mehmet) are making great sounds. I personally like the Alchemy as a thicker cymbal. Check out some websites where they sell them...they may have sound samples that can give you a basic idea of the sound of a particular cymbal.

Alchemy cymbals are killer, really exellent sounds better than maner others... The downside is that they are really pricey.

Thanks for the replies; it seems not many people here have much experience with them I've found a great site to listen to samples and I have to say they sound sweet. I already ordered a 14" crash; need some more money to get a whole set, but if it sounds as sweet as the sample, I'm definitely getting more

I tell you, if you've got the money, just go for it! Those cymbals are exellent, if I had the money I'd already have them.

My favourite french drummer, Pierre Belleville, used to be endorsed by Istanbul and played the Alchemy set, killer I say!

the price of Alchemy is not so hard. I use Istambul Alchemy and Agop and I am very happy with these cymbals, sound is great, very good for live and studio drumming.
