Virgil Donati Messageboard - View Single Post - what do you think about MESH head?

Actually I want to practise more so I need something quiet and REAL! I seem to have 3 choices:

1: practice pad
2: mesh head replacement for my kid
3: electronic drum with mesh pad like V-drum or RMP1/3/5

Now I'm most likely to get a snare pad and bass pad. I have searched over this board and I got the idea that most pads are either too soft like pillow or too bouncy. I'm from Hong Kong so basically I can't try all products and compare by myself from local music store. How poor I am. I don't want to start over another thread about the best practice pad or so. Actually I don't understand why experienced drummers have so different opinion about how a pad feel like a real snare or not.
