Have a look at the Mapex Black Panther snares, they have a LOT of great sounding snaredrums!
Also check out Sleishman at
www.sleishman.com if you want a custom made free-floating snaredrum. My 14"x6.5" Jarrah snaredrum is worth about AU$1350 but the maple ones are a couple hundred cheaper I think. I don't know if they do metal snaredrums. All Sleishman drums use their patented free-floating system and the drums sound FANTASTIC.
