Not always true!!!! Don't just assume that you have to drop 500+ bucks on a snare to get a good one...you can find gems for 200-300. And I mean top of the line, pro snares. Some materials cost a lot more than others, so you might find a snare that sounds great to you that isn't a million bucks. What kind of sound do you want? That's the most important thing...
