I'm listening to all Planet X cds including a bootleg from the last Pl.X tour ..OUTSTANDING!! ..and also Freakhouse's "Beautiful misery" which has not been released yet but that cd includes some of my all time favourite Virg playing! He's pretty much just laying down 4/4 grooves and his playing is pretty simple throughout this album.I find it a nice U guys check that album out!!;)

blackzoner 05-16-2003 12:43 PM

At this very moment...
It's cool to see everyone from PX messageboard over here!

At this very moment I am listening to "Zappa/Mothers Roxy-Elsewhere"... IT has what I believe is the strongest drum/percussionist section ever! On drums Ralph Humphrey & Chester Thompson & percussion the amazing Ruth Underwood, in my mind the greatest 'unknown' female percussionist ever!

This cd(once a dbl album)contains great performances of the incredible 1973/74 band!:D

maggimus 05-16-2003 02:56 PM

Right on Blackzoner!!!! I'm a HUGE Zappa fan and the Roxy album simply RULZ!!!!!! And I'd have loved to see Virg in the Zappa band!!!!!!!!:D

Devin Townsend - The Fluke

Any Devin fans in the house...?

frank 05-18-2003 06:50 AM

Derek Sherinian - Planet X
Derek Sherinian - Black Utopia
Virgil Donati - On the Virg

BTW Christopher, I've heard Devin's The Fluke (the song) on the InsideOut 2001 Sampler that came with the Dream Theater fanzine. It's a very cool song, nice sounds, agressive feel. I've heard another song from that album too, called "Mountain" if I remember correctly. Wasn't really impressed.. how's the rest of the cd?

zoso 05-19-2003 10:06 AM

Albums I've been listening to a lot recently:

Devin Townsend Band - Accellerated Evolution
Derek Sherinian - Black Utopia
Meshuggah - Chaosphere
Tomahawk - Mit Gas
Chris Brooks - The Master Plan

I dont know if there are any Devin Townsend fans here, but I really, really, really recommend him for a listen. His music is definately out there and he totally knows how to connect to the listener with his awesome voice. Right on.

Speaking of voice, Tomahawk is amazing too (once again, Im a Mike Patton freak, just saw Fantomas on Monday the 19th)

Holand 05-26-2003 07:41 AM

@Christopher: Have you checked out the solo album from Fredrik Thordendal(Meshuggah) called Sol Niger Within?

If not, I recomend that you do (and everybody who's into technical metal aswell).
It's wild. Totally insane!

Christopher 05-26-2003 08:52 AM
