hardware. Sizes are 10,12,14,16,18x22 with a 14' N & C Alloy
Classic Snare *Drools*. All Zildjian cymbals for
now but I am really looking into AA Meinl and Sabian HHXs. DW
5000 Double kick pedals, Pearl Icon rack, Premier hardware.

6 piece Premier Signia Gold edition kit, with 2 handmade custom snare drums, 12"x4" and 14"x5―".
Cymbals mainly Sabian including 3 saturation crashes 16"/17"/18"
a 14" fusion hihat, and 20" duoride. With a pearl rack system and eliminator doublepedal.
1 X-hat (zildjian) to my right, and 2 Wuhan chinas far right.

I'm using Premier Signia Drums at the moment. I've got all sabian cymbals, and I've started replacing them with cast cymbals (AAXplosion). Haven't decided on what to get for rides or hihats, anyone here know what Virg used on OTV? I liked his ride on that.
Premier Kit (jeppe, doesn't say a type on it, they're old enough), pearl snare, meinl and sabian cymbals, iron cobra pedal and pearl roadster throne.
@doublebass_rob: Virg is using prototype saturation hihats and ride, don't know when we'll see them on the market :-(

wow.... a lot of Premier users here. I think that is fantastic. I also own a Premier but it was the first Kit I've ever had. It was The Premier Cabria kit and for a rrrreally long time I wanted a signia cause they are just phenominal kits.
Hey Jimi... where'd you find Meinl Cymbals? I've been looking for them but practically no one carries them.

Goddam Deepthought I'm gonna have to come kill you and rob your house now. Address?
@doublebass_rob: A few places in town stock a couple of them, but as you can see i don't live near you!! If they have what you want i can send it to you, do you really want them that bad??
I recommend Sabian Saturation crashes, (of course!)
@deepthought: why the name-change?? but glad to see you here :-)

Double_bass Rob: On the OTV albums, Virgil was using some 2002 series cymbals, and I think he was using a 2002 ride. Nothing with any special words like "heavy" or "medium" or whatever, just a straightforward "2002 ride"

Ahoy, forgot my kit setup :p
At the moment:
Drums: Mapex Venus Series:
12", 10", 14" toms
20"x14" bassdrum
Snaredrum: 14"x6.5" Mapex Mars series steel snare.
Cymbals:
18", 19" Paiste 2002 crashes, cracked 16" 2002 crash. I will be getting a 20 year old, cracked 20" 2002 crash (it has a REALLY cool dark sound).
20" Paiste 402 Ride
14" Paiste 402 hihats
10" Sabian Pro China Splash
Future setup:
I'm endorsing a music store now "Steve Forrest's Music Store" for those who have heard of it (located at Tuggerah, on the Central Coast in NSW, Australia)
Anyway, he's going to do me the following Gretsch Reknown Maple kit for something between AU$2250-$2500, and he can give me the kit and let me pay it off :).
Snaredrum: 13"x6.5"
Toms: 8"x7", 10"x8", 12"x9", 14"x11", 16"x13" (or whatever the standard depths for 'floating' floor toms are)
Bassdrum: 22"x18"
Needless to say, I am going to be EXTREMELY happy to get that kit...
It's gonna be my home kit until I've got some drum bags/cases (ie. I leave it set up at home and use my Mapex kit for gigs and practises). But when I get cases and stuff for it, I'll decide whether or not to sell the Mapex kit or just keep it as a practise/studio kit. I'm still undecided on that.

Sabian would've been none too pleased with that.

No no, before Virgil was with Sabian, he'd been endorsing Paiste for many many years, and before he was even with Premier he was playing Remo drums. The OTV albums were recorded MANY years ago, while he was endorsing Paiste.

I am not sure you are right on that issue DavidPartay! OTV is from 1999, and Virgil Played Sabian already on the Southern Sons album "Zone" which is from 1996! And on the 1997 (and not 1996, as some seem to think) MD Festival video as well, he is playing Sabian.... but excactly which models of Sabian he used on OTV, I donīt know!! (Maybe I am wrong...You lived "just around the corner" from him..then)

Tama Rockstar custom 6 piece
Pearl Elinimator single (for my funky band)
Tama Iron Cobra doubles (when i'm feeling adventurous!)
Sabian Cymbals (all HHX)
Currently awaiting the arrival of my Tama Starclassic Performer kit
mmmmm! :)
Seeing as Virg occasionally reads the posts...I was just wondering mate, why you went to Pearl? Why didnt you go to Tama? Tama makes heaps better kits, especially for drummers who use their bass drums as much as you do! More punch!
Pearl, i find are ordinary drums unless you go into the high end of their products...which obviously you have! But still i don't think will ever match a Tama kit.........They offer you more money and free stuff? You will sound amazing whatever you play dude, but I think that playing Tama...you would have been better off...just my opinion anyways!

Tama Starclassic Maple in marine blue fade.
10" 12" 15" toms
14" (6,5") snare
+ a 12" snare wich I,ve made out of an old ludvik tom (transparent blue acrylic shell with black hardware) looks very cool and It don't sound half bad either.
Tama hardware including
IronCobra double basspedal and hihat stand.
I used to have all Sabian cymbals(AA, AAX and HH), but when I visited Istanbul last year I had to buy some real turkish cymbals. (they were insanely cheap too!)
This weekend I also get my 16" Wuhan china.
I'm playing:
Yamaha Stage Custom Advantage,
Metallic Blue:
1 x 22" kick (I've got one more on it's way  )
8",10",12",14",16" toms (Pinstribe-heads)
14" x 5―" snare (Ambassador head)
10" x 5" soprano snare (Ambassador head)
Cymbals, all Sabian:
20" AAX Stage Ride
17" AA Fast Crash
14" AA Thin Crash
8" AA Splash
6" HH Splash
14" Regular hats
22" HH Chinese
Hardware (of interest):
Yamaha DFP9410 (double pedal, direct drive)

I play a Premier Artist Birch (the last of the British-made) w/8-10-12-14 toms and 22 bass. Paiste Dimensions cymbals. Pearl Chad Smith Signature Series snare. DW 9000 Limited Edition Titanium double bass pedal (#4/500). I have pix on my website.
Fat Mike,
I'm totally the opposite to you! When I bought my new kit I tried many including Starclassics. I tried them with coated g1s and clear g2s, but no matter how I tuned them I couldn't get a decent sound. To my ears the toms just sounded dull. I ended up getting a Pearl Masters BRX. Here are the specs:
BRX in purple storm with black hardware
7x8
8x10
9x12
12x14
16x16
18x22
5.5x14 millenium silver birch snare.
All Zildjian cymbals
8" a splash
10" a splash
12" a splash
16" a custom fast crash
17" a custom projection crash
18" k custom dark crash
19" k china
20" z custom ride
21" k heavy ride
14" a mastersound hats
Eliminator double pedal and hi hat stand. Icon rack.
Also a Roland V drums kit with TD8 brain.

No offense, Fat Mike, but Tama are nothing special. They're way too expensive, and they're just as good as Pearl, Mapex, and whatever other popular 'big name' brands there are.
If you TRULY want value, then go for Gretsch. Tama have NOTHING on Gretsch.

You canīt judge taste over taste.
I have heard Pearl, Tama, Premier, Gretsch, Remo, Sonor, Yamaha, Brady, Ayotte, Ludwig and many other sets that all sounded absolutely great! It is a matter of tuning, and taste.

7 pc. Pearl Session in Marine Blue fade. 2 rack, 2 floor, 2 snares. Plus I bought the Meinls Thomas Lang used in his Hallendale, FL clinic, along with his throne, various hardware, and my babies- his Giant Step double pedal. By the way, does anyone else own a Pearl free-floating snare? My tension rods loosen much faster than my Export snare. Is this just the nature of die-cast hoops? I do lots of rimshots on both, but its only a problem on my free-floater.

Hello All!
I have lots of drum stuff! I love to let ppl know my collection. Obviously my parents are finally convinced I am CRAZY, but then again..I AM!!!!
Drums:
Kit 1 - Tama Granstar - Black Covered finish - 100% Birch
10x10, 11x12, 12x13, 13x14 toms (10 and 14 toms I picked up on ebay a couple of years ago)
16x16 FT, 6.5x14 Steel Snare
16x22 Bass Drum
Tama and Gibraltar Hardware
It was my main kit for 10 years. I just cleaned it up and I'm thinking of selling it...maybe.
Kit 2-3 - Big enough to make two kits!
Sonor Hilite - Maple - Black Laquer Finish - Chrome Hardware
8x8, 9x10 (2), 10x12 (2) 11x13, 12x14 toms.
16x15 FT, 17x16FT
16x20 BD, 17x22 BD
7.25x14 Snare
One config I play out, one stays in the practice room. The Tamas were used in another group, and after a while were just sitting there...
One config has Yamaha hardware, the other has Mapex stands with DW pedals. I plan to get Sonor Hardware...but SO expensive!!!!
Snares, in addition to the two listed above:
5x10 DW (experimenting with drum 'n' bass, different sounds)
5.5x14 Yamaha JR Robinson Nail Snare - Birch - Great sound, low or high
6.5x14 Pearl Steve Ferrone Signature - Brass - Nice pop, main snare for 3 years
and the grand poobah!!!
Sonorlite - 7.25x14 birch - 12 Lugs - Die cast hoops - Parallel Strainer - I can get a nice higher pitch with BODY!!! My new love!!! :D :D
Cymbals:
Paiste Signature series, primarily - they are the sound that is closest to the cymbal sound in my head. Saving up for Dark Energys!!!
My Fav Paiste in my collection - Formula 602 (Blue Label) 20" Medium Flatride!
Sabian - Jack DeJohnette - Full set from the Encore series, Rides and China from the first isssue series! (unhammered and unlathed)
Also AAX Stage Hats, and ...a 16" Saturation Crash! I love the sound of the cymbal with an 18" Wuhan, Bozzio White noise style...beautiful sound.
Zildjian - Just a crash. An Old A with a crack in the middle of the cymbal. Not for sale. Sentimental value. The first real cymbal I ever owned.
What else...Remo doumbek...tambourines, both Cyclops and Grover, Silver Jingle, Double Row...LP Pandeiro, Bells and Blocks...Meinl Drumbal...the coolest thing I have come across for acoustic drums! It sounds really neat..and Wuhan Chinas.
Aquarian heads on EVERYTHING, with the occasional Evans head, or Remo if from another owner.
Vic Firth is my fav stick, although I play Vater, and now and again Pro-Mark as well. I've always liked the Regal Tip brushes (with Retractable handle) but I tired a pair of the Vic Firth Heritage Brushes and I'm hooked!! Now, if can just get them in a color OTHER than purple...maybe...someday...
There! It's a lot to keep track of, but I do. I have anything I need in my arsenal to make...tons of sounds. I will eventually sell a few things once I get my own practice space..but who knows? Maybe not!
If I get a next kit, It will be a Yamaha. I have seen nothing but Grade-A consistency and quality from thier products. Pearl too, but Yamaha my first choice. I love Sonor but too expensive...I'm hoping these Hilites have a good re-sale value, but I'm not selling anytime soon.
Thanks for reading! I live in Iceland, just so you know! ;) j/k
Peace!

sonor hardware's expensive?.............after all that stuff you have?.........is expense really a problem? lol....damn dude nice stuff
Thanks
Sonors stuff is expensive when put side by side with, in my case Yamaha.
The Yamaha CS845 - $80 with tax
Sonor 600 series mini boom stand - 120 - 130 ...either 15 with shipping or 10 or so with taxes...it does add up
I can buy, say 3 Yamaha Booms for about the same as 2 Sonor Booms.
I agree with you though, the last thing I should be doing is whining about Sonor being expensive, especially with the amount of Sonor stuff that I've bought!!!
Thanks again!
