Hello frinds:
I recently downloaded the comercial video "Virgilīs online Masterclasses" (http://www.virgildonati.com/masterclass/videos/sample-lessons.wmv) and some doubts came into my head. 1- Does Donati use pivot in any part of the video? I saw and i think he doesnīt use the pivot. 2- Close to the end of the video he does double strokes with his feet and i had the impression that he does the first stroke with his heel up, but his heel is very close to the footboard and, to do the second stroke, he gets his heel up, making the heel more distant from the footboard than the first stroke. To me looked like the heeltoe moviment. I know he doesnīt used heeltoe. My question: Is this the moviment that we have to do to make double-stroke with our feet?
Sorry about my english and thanks for any help! :)

Raul,

There's going to be more video coming, I'm sure,
on his kicking, so your doubts will be put to rest.
My heels are very near the ground, when I do my
doubles and this is what I believe I saw, the few
times I sa Virgil live. I do NOT think he's doing
heel to toe but don't take my word for it. Keep
watching. He'll put everything to rest. :)

Judging fromt the Power Drumming video I notice that Virg kinda does the opposite of heel-toe, but toe-heel, he starts with his foot angled up, and then with the second stroke moves it down, sort of accenting the second stroke in a way, but I do it the way Pete Drummond does it, and thats accenting the first stroke a bit more than the second, not a huge accent, but just letting people know your hitting it... Well thats my opinion :D

In this video I found, his right foot seems to be pivoting from the inside out, actually quite a bit. I have heard from people who have seen Virgil play in person that he does use a pivot method. But, none of this came from the man himself, so don't take my word for it.
