View Full Version : Steve Weingart with ROF (AWESOME!)

For those who might listen to Ring Of Fire, they have a new and BRILLIANT keyboard player Steve Wiengart. Steve has played with Dave Weckl and Frank Gambale to name a few has made a name for himself in the Jazz-Fusion realm, he has major league technique and diversity and will be a HUGE addition to the band. There is no doubt this band is serious about making some new and fresh killer music. Steve has been playing with Virg and Tony on the CAB gig and I am sure they were pulling for him to join. ROF has not really been my cup of tea in the past but DreamTower was a step in the right direction, Definitely alot more influence from Virg on it. They really have a great overall lineup nowand I am sure they will be putting out some FANTASTIC music in the future. Sounds like the band is real pumped up about their future right now. I am sure Virgil is VERY HAPPY about this new change. I am sure things will be sounding much different now!!

You are right, Dreamtower is actually very good and Virg seemed to have been a bit obssessive in writing the latest tunes for ROF (as he said in the Sabian chat).
I'd say there will another great improvement in the next album and now with Mr. Weingart added, everything sounds really promising. I can't wait either!!:D

Like you say, dreamtower is a very good record.
I really like Virgils compositions, donīt know why really, some are pretty simple with harmonics etc. but he makes them sound unique anyway. I love the last "theme" on dogboots, when they play that 7 figure...the harmony and the bass lines, I just love it!!
Same goes for Interlude in Milan, Midnight Bell, Ignotus per ignotium and Quantom Factor...
...what I wanna say is that I hope that Virg will write more tunes for ROF, only for the good!!!

He said that was his main compositional task at the moment, so your wish has already come true! Wow i can't wait for a DVD witht he line-up and songs:D
