Pete Drummond showed me a bunch of things on twirling sticks, he's a monster at it, and Virg pretty much does it the same way, one of the ones is you get the stick in between your middle finger and index finger (make sure its all the way at the bottom) and the just do your average twirl, it looks mad, and its easy, but you can incorporate it with your bass drum with fills and then move it around drums and cymbals, people think your a genius haha, but yeh, thats one of them, hoped that helped, if not, ill try and think of a better way of explaining it over the net! :D

Wow.. A lost topic revived! We actually discussed about this sometime ago.. With Peter being the leadman, explaining and sharing wat he knows about twirling. Cheers Peter. I think I've gasped quite alot about stick twirling.. I'm not perfect yet, but I feel I'm much more better at it now... :D

A guitarist called Jason Becker used to do that. He would play with a yoyo with his right hand, while he would go nuts with his left hand! Looked pretty damn cool :D

Hey Everyone, how are we all?? Hope we are all healthy and drumming.
OK, you want to know how Virgil twirls his sticks?? Well, here's how.

His standard one is where you (in right hand) are playing along, and then from the middle of the stick (in matched grip) you slip your middle finger, ring finger and pinky fingers behind the stick on the side closest to you, then push with those three fingers and make it roll over the top of your index finger and back into your hand...NB: MAKE SURE YOU KEEP UP THE MOMENTUM OTHERWISE THE STICK WILL FALL OUT!!
PRACTISE THIS LIKE AN ABOSLUTE MUTHA AND YOU'LL BE FINE ON STAGE -
Hope that one worked...Virg has a few ways of doing it, and I've worked out most, but they're complicated and they need a SHITE LOAD of pratise, so "stick" at it ;)

KEEP ON DRUMMING, WE PLAY THE BEST INSTRUMENT, AND THERE ISN'T A BETTER SOUL TOOL THAN THE DRUMS!

Strike the Drum, Hammer the Key!
