Hi Drumming mates,

I've recently realized something abnormal about my playing, in which while I'm playing double bass (constant pattern) or rather when I'm utilizing all my limbs at a go, my breathing pattern would be neglacted. I find myself very tired and burned out after awhile, and its only when that happens that I realize, I wasn't breathing in and out consistently, as I should!! I've heard many times from other drummers that it is important for the body to be supplied with sufficient amount of oxygen, to replenish those that were
lost while the muscles are burning. I guess this is an individual problem..Only certain ppl like me has it!

But I would like to get some suggestions from u great guys here, as to how I can let my breathing do its on thing, naturally without having me to
consiously alert myself to do the breathing?... :(

yoga definitely helps!!! big time!!! in yoga, the teaching is that when you relax and breathe deeply you can get in touch with every little cell in your body... it's a great feeling! You get in position and hold it for ten breaths, each time you breathe you make the stretch a little more intense, so once you've done ten you've really pushed yourself. I've had the same problem... and still do ocassionally when I come across something really hard, but what I did was just slowed whatever that lick was down, and didnt think about it, I thought about big deep breaths and did them very slowly. just put a lot of focus on that and after a while it'll become more and more natural to stay relaxed.
