View Full Version : Must read story at HOD about Virgil!
There is an incredible story about Virgil posted by one of the members of HOD www.houseofdrumming.com concerning Virgil's clinic in Vancouver, Canada a few months ago. The guy who wrote it, his name is "Beats", got to tech for Virgil. It is a MUST read for anyone who is a fan and even if you are not, maybe it will open eyes about Virgil's greatness.

Beats,
Thanks for that post but I know you could not
help yourself. ;)
Welcome here. I agree with Kirk on everything.
He's a great guy and one of the staples here.
He's a real gentleman and is encouraging in
every way.
Virgil is infectious, that way.
I'm really happy for you because I know that
you are going to feel the old fire like I know
you appreciated, once before. Never the
same, still, it's being carried by a worthy
visitor to this world - Virgil Donati!
My best to you, Beats!
I know Peter,(speaking of Beats) it is so hard not to write with so much passion and excitement(it would be wrong for a person to not express openly what they feel) when you have had the oppurtunity to witness Virgil live. It does ignite a flame within for sure. Thanks for the kind words and enjoy the lessons I am SURE! you will.
Best Regards Kirk

I feel as though my premium are payment for
all the inspiration I've received, everytime I
see him, some new 'lesson' being delivered!
I'll be catching up for a LONG, LONG, LONG,
LONG time! Thanks again, Virgil!
And thank you, Kirk!

Wow kirk, thanks so much for posting this!! :) Hopefully there will be some more people posting the same kind of experiences over here soon!
Thanks beats, i tried to write about my trip to his clinics, but i didn't remember alot of it off the top of my head. I think it was a good thing you left it a while before you posted it.
You reminded me of so much, and i couldn't help laughing when you described how Virgil might stare at you:D

Nonetheless the impression stuck.

well i was just searching over virg's new site today and happened to stumble upon this link to HOD and a topic about the vancouver festival with virg. it soon became apparent to me that this post was from (dan???) a member of the crew for the clinic. i was very suprised to see his comments about me (jay) and am delighted to know my hard work and love for this insrument/community did'nt go unnoticed. i was rewarded with a near 2 hour lesson with virg, not to mention practicing in a practice room across the hall from virg and hearing him shed non stop (except to ask me for a pair of nail clippers) for 4 hours..i have pictures from this clinic and plan to post a reveiw of my experience with virg once i come to terms with what happened the weekend of oct 24 2003
cheers to beats (danny right??? i could be wrong...i think thats your name..)
Sounds like you had a good experience Jay, look forward to your story and welcome!
