What do you all do to maintain good posture and back health? I'm quite tall and I have realized that I tend to slump over in everyday life and especially when playing drums, which is problematic. That makes quite a few years that I've been sitting hunched over at the kit, and I have to undo the damage. Have you found back-strengthening, yoga, or other methods to be helpful in improving posture and keeping an upright back?

Working out is very very helpful for me. My back is stronger than it used to be some years ago, and it helps greatly at being upright, having less or no pain in the back, and also drumming.

I use to slump everytime so try and be aware of your posture also consider doing some basic excercises of yoga,it has and it is still helping me to be agile & flexible

Perhaps this is a silly advise, but perhaps adjusting your stool might help?
I never had any back problems while playing drums, cuz I'm not very tall. :)

You might want to raise your entire kit up so not hunched over as much. Strengthening your back muscles is another good idea.

I think tweaking the set-up would definitely help, but the problem is probably more that I'm just lazy and my back is weak so I don't always hold it up well. Nice to hear that working out helps...I just recently started reading about balancing out your muscle groups.

but careful not to sparin ur back working out..cos..i just did mine..gawd it hurts! =-(

Stool with backrest. That's the first thing to get.
I am more or less in the same situation as Bateria (nice to see you here again! :) ), but my back problems come from my school days with a heavy backpack... Is there any exercises for musculating the back without weights and other gear? I was recommended the dead-lift, the problem is I don't have money for barbels and other weightlifting apparel.
