I came across Virgil completely by luck, but when I saw his video on batera.org or whatever, it was the first time I'd ever seen such command, speed (I mean look how fast he can move between the two floor toms on either side of him! it looks like the camera's in fast motion) and just all around "own3dness" of the drums

Your argument of Virgil not being good known shows how few you know about the music business. Some of the best musicians are very unknown.
Look at the most famous pop-bands. They are not popular because they are good but because they play very simple music everybody can understand.

And if Virgil is nothing special who is then more special in your opinion? If he is not special ... Do you have such great experience feel and control?

MUCH MUCH BETTER! I think though is completely subjective, Lang would not come out the "victor" in most people's eyes. And although I have a non-homosexual crush on Thomas Lang, I believe Virgil due to his sheer power and expressiveness would win in a drum battle. They both have supreme ability though.
