Hello,
I saw that there are some tour dates in France (at last !), but except for the Nerac guitar festival, it's impossible to have some information about the other dates (especially Bordeaux). Even in the Bunny Brunel web site, there is only the Nerac date.
So, are the other dates cancelled ?
Any informations ?
Pleeeaaaase !
J.
There is something very wierd about those dates going on. Even the
places which are supposed to sell the tickets don't seem to know much.
When I went to the Virgin Megastore of Toulouse to get my Tickets, they
had them all A PART FROM the tickets for Virgil's Masterclass. And they still
don't have them!
I'm quite unhappy with the way these French dates are being treated, and
especially the lack of information.

Your are lucky to find something about the concert (if I suppose that there is a mastercalls and an concert) ! Here, even the concert seems to be unknown...
In fact, I don't exactly know what is originally planned (concert and/or master class or nothing at all...).

In fact, it seems that it's a masterclass reserved for some schools and there is nothing to do to get some tickets... The number of place is very small and, as far as I know, the masterclass duration is short.
I have the luck to know one of the teacher and I'll be one of his student for one day (it's a present for christmas, he knows that Virgil is one of my very favourite)...
Anyway, don't miss the great show on may with Lang and other very high quality guests on may 20th !
En tout cas, les informations au sujet des masterclass a été vraiment archi-nulle et j'ai appris le passage par pur hasard...

Okay thanks,
I'm very very disapointed that the Bordeaux one is closed to nont-students...
The only one remaining is Toulouse (Nérac) I guess ? I'll be in Biarritz the week Virgil plays and I figured out that the closest clinic would have been Bordeaux but perhaps there is another one closer ? Turcoing ?
And, I'm a HUGE fan of Thomas Lang and got a chance to talk with him for a long time 2 months ago and I woudl be very delighted to see him again and with Virgil ??? INSANE ! Where is that ????

Bordeaux, may 20th at the Medoquine, with (perhaps) a drum battle with Minnemann and Lang. In fact, there are several top level drummers suring afternoon and evening, a great drum day !
I have the program, I'll put it on my weblog later.
I met Thomas Lang a year ago and I taked to him, a very, very nice and funny guy. I met Johnny Rab too, insane and so unique. I love them all because they are all unique !!!!!
I hoppe I'll speak with Vigil too... My god, I can't believe it.

To those of you going, could you please tell me what kit he used (Serie, sizes, color) because if he uses a Reference and with my desired sizes, I arranged with La Baguetterie that if the kit is for sale afterwards, I'm buying it... I'm anxious to know what he'll use !

It will just be masterclasses at Music Academy (MAI), rather limited to their students.

Those descriptions are great - especially the bit about '[les] musiciens extra-terrestes'!!
Don't think I'll be going on the off-chance that I get in though...

I was soooo close to buying tickets for Nerac I had everything ready and when I started to make the inscription last week on the sheet I started to use my brain a little while and went "No that's on the saturday !!!" Because I'm lucky enough to be going to the Alpes for skiing but this is preventing me from seeing the great Virgil... Too bad because I'm soo close to Toulouse right now ! If any of you lucky attendants can tell me info about the jit he used, I may get a compensation by hopefully being able to purchase that very kit !
Just got back from the show, I'm sorry to say that the kit was a Masters Custom...

I was (very) lucky to participate to the masterclass and next (small) concert in Bordeaux on thursday. It was the first time I see Virgil in real life...
When I saw this strange small man with his blue cap, I could believe that my idol is here, so close.
The first thing that impressed me is his kindness and humility. Whatever that may arrive, he did his best to do the best ! I can say that the working conditions were quite bad... Despite all of the problems, he anwereds to any questions, signed any autograph, allowed to take any pictures, played anything we wanted. This reinforce the deep respect I had before about him.
And his playing... How can I describe what you all know ? The masterclass was very very high level, probably too high for some of us. The trap of this masterclass is that we can think Virgil lacks about groove. Because we are not in the habit to hear these extremely difficult things. But, when CAB played, there is no more place for ambiguity. Virgil is a top master of groove, end of the story. Even in a latin context for some CAB titles with left foot clave ostinato. This man can do anything.
I expected to hear somebody with a huge stoke volume. In fact, it much better than that : he has a huge dynamic volume. He can play very soft, very loud. He works any aspects of drumming, not only speed or power. His knowledge is immense as his humilty.
To be honest, words fail me. But I suppose you can understand the feeling of meeting pure talent !
A great, great, great (not so) little man.

The thing that pissed me off was the dude who was translating! He totally
deformed what Virgil was saying and even forgot to translate some important
things...
Lucky for some of us we spoke english... I have no idea what the non english
speaking drummers made out of this.
:( :( :(
Oh if anyone has some cool photos of Virgil during the masterclass or of the
concert, could they PM me? I'd be interested in having them. Thanks in
advance!

Nope, I was in Nerac yesterday.

Ok, in fact we had the same translation problem...
You're lucky because, the sound technicians in Bordeaux were so dumb that it was impossible to plug the powerbook to play tracks, so Virgil did only pure drum solos and explanations, the same than at Neirac. We were very hangry to see that nothing worked with the sound, incapable of plugging a 3.5mm jack into a console. But virgil stay calm, never complains and do his best for us (we were around 15 people).
La vache, le groove qu'il a avec CAB, c'est mons-tru-eux. 100% mon style de musique. Et steve Weingart, comment qu'il assure... Il sont joué 30 minutes, on était verts.
J.
Il ne manquait plus que les cordes gratuits pour se pendre a la sortie!

Y avait un bac marqué "jettez vos baguettes ici" à la sortie...
