 I was just wondering how much a drummer of so high caliber makes a year? May be around $90,000 or more a year or less than that. You can talk about Virgil and any other famous drummer like Lang,Chambers etc.

Well, he's probably got a chunk in the bank from his Australian rock star days. Studio time can easily get up to $200 an hour, so he could make $1000 a day playing on records. A few grand for each clinic. I'm sure the checks the drum companies write to him are pretty nice. He probably gets some sort of commission for each of his signature items sold, although it may not be much. Private lessons probably add a good bit. Now he's got the book out. He's making more than decent money.

More than $0.
Less than $100,000,000,000,000,000.

Glad we cleared that up.

I don't have a single clue what his income is, I don't really care either, as long as the man makes a decent living and is happy with what he gets. The only thing that frustraties me is that Virgil isn't making millions and crappy artists and untalented musicians that hardly put any practice in their instruments make way more money. Oh well, it's just the way it is...

BTW MaltBuddow... a few grands for every clinic? Do you really think so?

Think about this... with all of his tens and hundreds (?) of thousands of hours of practice, how much money could he have possibly made from his drumming?

I'll bet he hasn't averaged it out to a dollar per hour of practice yet!

I do know for sure that Vinnie Colaiuta is a millionaire. Well... who wouldn't be when they play for people like, um, the Backstreet Boys and Lindsay Lohan? :D :D :D

Frank just read my mind. Virgil must be doing really good for sure, but any average drummer from a chart topping band gets more $$$ and are endorsed by drum companies as well.
