Hey guys,

Just a heads up that the Virgil Super Trio with Rufus Philpot (bass) and Mitch Forman (keys) will be coming to Australia in December. Most of the dates are actually confirmed, but I'm waiting for the FINAL list to make sure. Expect an announcement about this here very soon!

All those magical and special nights at the Baked Potato will soon grace different venues around Oz, stay tuned!

Talk amongst yourselves...

Yeah.. and what about MacAlpine/Bynoe/Donati? I talked to Tony after one of the two shows I attended, and he was positive about a release and said they had been recording and a release was definitely coming..

F*** the record labels. :(

YYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best news of my life....well since I last heard his holiness was going to grace our shores earlier this year. But nonetheless, that is UNBELIEVABLE!
Will the dates just be with the Super Trio, or will there be like a few clinics/masterclasses as well?

About the old trio recordings, both the Macalpine anf Gambale versions: I serioulsy doubt they had a recording deal for those groups. Iīm sure they recorded a lot of material though. They have DATs and tapes and whatnot from those gigs.

I used to think that most of this material would not be "releasable" due to intelectual property issues, but since Virgil posts lots of videos from other formations, that isnīt an issue.

I wonder why the hardcore fans never see those things... I can figure out why non-offical Planet X material isnīt released by the band - they have a deal and it probably forbids these practices. But those unsigned formations should release bootlegs, videos, amateur DVDs etc - thereīs an audience dor that

Yeah that get's me thinking. As Morg said, what is going on with that supposed Virg/Gambale/Fierabracci release? There was a time when that one was definitely coming out.

There will be double bass workshop on Friday 16th December. Need to bring your DB pedal and a practise pad... sweet, wish I was in Melb.. doesn't look like he's doing one in Sydney.

Also, theres a hand technique class on Saturday 17th December. This is followed by a Rhythm workshop with Virgil and Rufus Philpot at 1pm..

Drumtek always puts on great workshops.. Wish we had a Drumtek in Sydney!!

Although, Billy Hydes over here scored some time with Kenny Aronoff a few weeks back.. Six lucky people got one hour lessons with Kenny!! I called up, but was too late! :(
