Hey guys,
I didn't see anyone from the boards there last night but whoever was in town for the Baked Potato gig last night was in for a treat. This band (Bunny, Otmaro, Brandon) was simply AWESOME. I've never seen Bunny rip on the bass like he did last night. Maybe it was the heat or something!
Speaking of 'ripping', Otmaro Ruiz was simply ON FIRE. This guy has some massive chops it's unreal. His seasoned lines were so smooth that Virgil was having a blast trading licks at every bar. I had an awesome time chatting with him backstage about his recordings with Alain Caron (bass player from Montreal, Canada), who happens to be one of my very favorite bass players out there. Otmaro was very laid back and really cool to talk to. Then again, it's easy to talk to anyone when you're at the Baked Potato.
It was so hot in there, it was unbearable. Virgil was sweating like a mule & he still tore it all up...he also didn't lose a stick with all the humidity floating around.
