In an attempt to develop strong powerful strokes on the snare drum and around the drums, I worked on developing my wrist strokes. In order to achieve this, I isolated the wrist action by locking the fingers on the sticks, and working on one handed exercises. This is the one instance when I am not concerned with maintaining steady time, but instead play it from very slow to very fast. This is one way to develop speed and endurance, and allows the hand time to warm up and gradually reach it's point of threshold. Donšt be afraid to challenge yourself outside of your comfort zone, even to the point of feeling a burn. If done correctly, this simple exercise will certainly develop your articulation around the drums.
