i love TAMA!! have been playing tama for a while now...recently discovered the durabillity of pearl and how convinient, their tom holder design is!! i wouldnt mind either TAMA (starclassic) or PEARL...

*not really a fan of Yamaha, personally i think Yamaha should stick to piano*

Have yet to compare..the Tama (iron cobra) and PEARL (eliminiator)

i am intending to get a double pedal set...!!

any advice/reviews on these two pedals??

thanx guys!:D

Im afraid you're VERY VERY wrong with the Yamaha comment.

Yamaha continues to evolve and innovate in the drumming circle. Hagi (the drum guy from Japan) is an absolute junkie when it comes down to drums. The guy knows EVERYTHING about drums all the way down to the lugs. The guy can talk about lugs for 4 hours straight with you if you really ask for it.

The Yamaha Custom kits that came out around 10-15 years ago were the first maple kits that were actually tunable. The hoops that came with it were amazing. I remember the days. It's not for nothing you had some of the best players using it (Weckl, Colaiuta, etc). Hagi works with the artist to know what they want.

If you want a really amazing sounding kit with probably the BEST sounding bass drums you should get either one of these brands:

Pearl: Amazing bass drums, great floor toms. I dont like the snare lines.

Gretsch: The ones that are made with Jasper Maple are incredibly amazing.

Fibes: Ever since they got bought out for good by some old Ludwig people, Fibes has the best sounding kit ever. The boomiest and brightest set of drums. They are made with teir own wood and before they were made with Jasper Maple.

GMS: Another amazing bass drum. Tight sounding with a lot of attack. I love them.

These are my 2 cents. But I personally dont agree what you said about Yamaha. You just fired a shot in the dark back there! :)

...Love my Premier Signia gold kit..... she's a beauty!
While it is true that Vinnie was ENDORSED by Yamaha it is no secret in the drumming industry that he, and alot of other top-players (incl. the late great Jeff Porcaro ) used Gretsch, Brady and other brands in countless studio sessions!
I really like Brady snares! I love Remo bassdrums!
But my main snare is a Jeppe Morgenthaler custom handmade super snaredrum! Yeehaaaa

I like my Premier Artist Birch kit, and my Mapex Orion Classic kit.
Different sounds on it, one more Fusion/Rock kit and one Jazzkit.

Ok morganthlaer, quit bragging about the custom made snare drum ;)

You got it right tho, your Maple Premier "Signia" kit is awesome! I know cause I have a huge Cherrywood stain kit that i've been using on gig's for 10 years now! Great tunability, deep thump from my floor toms & bass drums, & the snares are great too.

I think it was bootdogs asking about the kick pedals? I've tried them all, even the Titanium DW dbl pedal & imo the Pearl "Eliminator" dbl pedal is the finest pedal you can buy! Iron Cobra's are good but....give me the "Eliminator"!
Right Jeppe?

Drum wise, i'm affraid i'm guilty of blowing my own horn, cause these hand selected, custom made "Smith Custom Drums" I won are the finest sounding & looking drums this old man has ever played! You can't see the beauty in the small photo very well, but anyone interested in seeing(almost)my exact kit can go to:
www.smithdrums.com & below the pic of the kit is a close-up of 1 of my toms which gives you a better idea of their beauty! Also Joe Murawski the owner(he only has 3 other employees)takes great pleasure in the construction of his drums, everything is triple checked for quality before they ship them & you couldn't find a nicer guy to work with! He's a professional drummer too, & knows his stuff!

I am so lucky to have won this handmade kit! It only took 15 years of entering
drum givaway contests to get lucky & MAN did I hit the perfect contest.

I'll put pic's up of my 3 kits asap. I guess I do like bragging! :D
