i've had it for a few months but thought i'd just say, that dvd is so amazing
marco is such a talented player (thru hard work obviously) his independence is so advanced i wonder if there's sumthing he cant do.
he doesnt seem to have the power and awe-inspiring approach that virgil has, marco is different but nontheless awesome.
also check out the end piece with the random jam, the bass player does this improvised slapping and and marco plays an insane cross stick pattern is sync with it almost immediately
nice indeed

Marco's Interdependence and polyrhythmic concepts are his best assets IMO. But I do not Love his overall playing, man some of his out playing is too rockish and cliche and predictable for my taste anyways. Sometimes it is Bozzio(early Bozzio) all over again. When he superimposes rhythm's and sets up a groove I like it and it stands out. I am spoiled by Virgil's Fluid Grace(Marco is precise but his fluidity and grace does not impress too heavy handed), power and creativity. And Virg handles different styles in a much more convincing manner. BUT Marco's limb independence and creativity in that realm is fantastic.

I definitely thought about buying it...still am actually...I saw some previews for it on his webpage and it looks pretty wicked...Marco is an amazing player and it is true that his independence is unlike anything we've ever seen...The reason I haven't bought it yet is because I waiting for Thomas Lang's DVD to come out...that is one that I will most definitely buy...and if I have some left over $$$ after that I might get Marco's...

yeh thomas lang's will be amazing
yeh i agree with wat was said about marco...
marco's dvd is packed full of good features- lots of technique hints, odd time stuff, interdependence, independence and he even plays guitar!!
if i remember correctly virg isnt planning on bringing out anymore instructional dvd's??

I have never seen Marco's DVD, i'll trust that its good from your comments, i might get it sooner or later, but in regards to Thomas Lang, dont stop saving your money, i dont know if you guys know or not but his German videos "Ultimatives Schlagzeug" apparently will be released on DVD next year, im pretty sure its that one, that or another one, but who would care, it's Thomas Lang :D but yeh, thats according to someone i know who was a student of his, so i thought id let you guys know.

it says on hudson music's website that thomas filmed the dvd while in the USA for the modern drummer festival
so i would say its a different one

You're both correct. They're re-releasing the slag vids which were ONLY in german as i understand,...as well as the hudson dvd.

We're making some people VERY rich with our spending habits/addiction. :)

Yeah but i'm scratching theirs for twice the price!
If they slowed the dvds down to half speed a 3 hr one would last 6hrs and seem much more worth the cost. :D

hahaha yeh, thats true, but when you think about it, DVD's have like 4-5 hours footage? well thats what they say ha, but its with all the special feature playing footage aside it would be a 2 or more hour lesson with top players, so payin 80 bucks (well thats the price here) is worth it, and you can watch it over and over, so your getting a lesson that lasts until you break the DVD and if you tried getting a lessons with say Thomas, hed probably change double the price of a DVD! :D

I'm only kidding Lucius.

I haven't bought one that I haven't learnt anything from,..... even the ones i regretted buying.

Actually I must say I was pretty P*ssed with Warnerbros for being tight/stingey with Marco's dvd because,..... they put it all on one disc where as the other sets you buy you get 2 discs.
Theres more chance of scratching a disc with it imprinted on both sides.

I knew you were kiddin, i just felt like writing something moral that would convince myself of the fact that i wasnt wasting money on a DVD :D concerning Marco's DVD, man that sucks, maybe he should have done it through hudson

I think his [Marco's] book is published through Warner bros, which is why the dvd is the same company,.....as is, I think, Horatio hernandez who also has some Dvds coming out. Once there was a time of no tuitional stuff out and now we're flooded,....how lucky we are with new technology. cant wait for the Holograme images of drummers in your own home giving lessons......whatta thought! Virtual Virgil :)

haha that would be great, but then we sould be scratching the companies back for 500 times the price!! ;)

For those of you talking about the Thomas Lang DVD, I've got some bad news. I've been looking forward to it very much lately, and Hudson said it would be out in November. One day they changed it to December, so I emailed their customer service and here it is:

message: Hello. I've got a couple questions about the upcoming Thomas Lang DVD. Will it be released by Christmas, or will a solid release date be announced soon? Also, do you guys think you could maybe possibly by any slight chance put up a couple more clips to make the wait a bit easier?:p I'm sure many drummers would appreciate that a lot.

Thanks,
Chris

chris, thanks very much for your email...as to a "solid release date", it's really very difficult to pin down because of the fact that there are so many different elements involved, many of which are out of our direct control, such as clearances for song useage...i don't expect that we will have the title out before christmas, unfortunately...as for your suggestion that we put up additional quick time clips, i think this is an excellent idea, and i will look into it right away...thanks again for your interest and for your inout, as well as your patience...we really appreciate it...

That kind of bummed me out, but hopefully they will put up some more clips:).

Back to the subject, I'm starting to like Marco more and more. He seems like a really fun guy, good personality, and no doubt is amazing drummer, too. I think I might just get that DVD.

Do you guys know the album Fly Eyes by the German band H-Blockx? I don't know whether they are known outside Europe anyway, but Marco Minnemann sat behind the drums for this cd, and I love his performance!!

Check the menu on both sides of the disc and see what the Running Times are for each section and make a total. :)

swedendrummer, you must be trying to see it through your computer. I don't know why, but the bonus material only reads on a real DVD player, no PC's.
