Whoa, no offense, but that kid is a complete copy of Virgil. He even looks like Virgil in some of those angles on his pics.

Great talent coming out of Australia, thats for sure.

okay okay..i think we should give him some credit seriously....i mean it takes a lot of practice to get to that standard man!!!

if anyone here knows him...maybe you should tell him to start coming up with his own signiture moves, fills, grooves....etc

but like i said..he is gooood!

:D

I agree with you that he sounds a lot like Virgil...when I first saw the video that's the first thing that popped into my head...but I think that's an amazing compliment more then anything else...if somebody told me that I sound like Virgil when I play the drums, I would be the happiest guy on the face of the planet. Virgil is such a force of nature that to be told you even sound remotely like he does is about the highest praise I think a drummer could get!!!

He reminded me a LOT of Virgil...but I guess that he develops his own style eventually, or perhaps he already has.
Great drumming anyway!!!

Yes he is reminiscent of Virg but his playing is more forced and it is not as clean and it is repetitious, and one area that always sets Virg apart his Interdependence. But yes he is very good (if not original) if he can even be mentioned in the same breath as Virgil. Virg has set the bar REALLY high and that makes it hard to even relate one guy or another to Virg.

Yeah I've known Daniel for a couple of years. His playing has been heading in other directions, as has Virgil's, and the gap has widened much more, but Virgil is definately a big influence of his. I have to say he's definately got the committment, and hardworking nature of Virgil.

Thanks to all you guys for checkin' out my website... I appreciate the feedback... Virg has certainly been a big influence on my playing over the past couple of years... As has other great players like Lars Ulrich, Vinnie Paul, Dom Famularo, Terry Bozzio, Buddy Rich, Tony Williams and most recently, Graham Morgan! Also, that vid is nearly a year old and is only short segment of the solo... It will be updated soon!!!

Hey Tim...
At the moment I am taking lessons with Graham Morgan... He has got me working on sub-dividing polyrhythms against each other! It's a real brain bender, but VERY cool... The ideas are coming from all angles! I also spend alot of time working on independence plus my d/b and hand technique... In terms of practice... I do practice everyday, but I don't always get to sit on the kit, but I do pad work everyday to keep my hands and feet moving... On a good day, I can do anywhere b/w 4-8 hrs...

Hey Milo...
As with anything, it takes time... I spent alot of time developing the basic mechanics of double bass drumming before taking it to the next level... after that, it all seemed to come naturally to me... Again, it took alot of time, and I am still developing my d/b drumming... Expolring more than just singles and doubles; flams, ruffs, paradiddle combinations, etc. Thanks for the question mate!!!

DJL, sorry if I seemed a little offensive up there calling you a copy of Virgil, but where I come from, that's sort of a compliment. I love Aussies!

I just thought I should clear that up with you. Keep up the amazing work!!
