I'm a big fan of Porc. Tree! I think they're superb - and Gavin Harrison is blindingly good, as always.
Deadwing's probably their best album so far!
Everyone on this board MUST own it.
John.

Just listened through it at the gym. Awesome. Gavin's drum sound is so good.
Buy it, buy it, buy it!
I'm not too familiar with Porcupine Tree, could you two give me some insight on the band's music? I'm always in search of new interesting bands...

Cool, dark, ethereal prog. Kinda Floyd-ish, but I hate comparisons.

I've always thought Gavin has been one of the most UNDER rated drummers ever! You get guys like Joey Jordison who couldnt even carry Gavins stick bag! But gets all the hype! OH WELL, I guess I'd rather be a great drummer, rather than a famous one!

"The Sound of Muzak" is my fave, both musically and lyrically. So true.

Steven Wilson also produced Blackwater Park, Damnation, Deliverance, by Opeth. His vocals are also featured on "Bleak" from Blackwater Park. Porcupine Tree is good stuff.

Deadwing is a must own for any drummer thats a fan of rock music, prog rock especially.
Intelligent, mature, slammin' stuff.

I just transcribed a bunch of tunes off Deadwing that will be in the next issue of Drum!. Gavin error checked them too so they're perfect, and a good lesson in prog drumming. He has pocket, superb time and groove and unlike most drummers, restraint.
I agree about the Sound of Muzak off of In Absentia - great drumming! I haven't decided which disc I like more. Get both....
