Howdy all,
I am auditioning for a contemporary music coarse at the end of next month, for which I need to perform (on drums) 2 pieces of contrasting styles - hence the need for backing tracks.
Normally I compose my own backing music, but my high school exams are looming and I just wont have enough time.
Are there any backing track junkies out there that could help me out? Does anyone have any awsome backing tracks, or know where I could download some?
Cheers in advance

Rob,
How do you feel about some Latin music?

Latin would be fantasic! Especially considering the stylistic contrast from the fusion/jazz backing track I was working on!

RFG,
Well, then I suggest the following:
Eddie Palmieri - Palmas
Eddie Palmieri - Arete
You can get them here for a song and dance:
http://half.ebay.com/search/search.jsp?product=music&keyword=eddie+palmieri&meta_id=2&inStock=n
These releases have a number of
tracks that you can overdub and
play along with.
Here's a sample of mine, from "Arete":

Another great one is Billy Cobham's
"Conundrum" for Jazz/Funk. It's avail-
able at Amazon.com.

Peter, these tracks sound neato, my only dilemma is that there are drums in them. I wonder if you know of/have any backing track midi files. I have a decent sound module which would make it a lot quicker than composing from scratch.
Sorry for pushing the issue here, thanks a bunch for your help.

RFG,
I just posted those as samples of
what you might be able to do with
them. On the original tracks, there
are no drums, just percussion.
They're real hot and a challenge
to come up with drum parts for
them. The Cobham stuff has very
little percussion on it.

Would you like this track minus
my drum part?

CAB play that cobham track you posted there peter. is it a tribute or just a cover that they do?

That's a Cobham original. They
must be covering it. It was orig-
inally on the Spectrum release,
with Tommy Bolin on guitar,
circa 1972-1974.

Pete, that drduck one sounds good - much appreciated (its a pitty we have to remove the drums - they're groovin man).

RFG,
www.thediametrixletter.com/drduck.zip
It's inside, in .mp3 format.
I strongly encourage you to get the releases
as there are many other tunes you can use
and you'll help a small-market genius (Eddie).

Feel free to download
this .zip file, for this track
from Eddie Palmieri's killer
Latin Orchestra. I'll leave
on the server for you. If
you go for the kicks and
remember that Latin is
about off-beat accent,
you will have not only a
challenge but lots of fun!
Get the discs. They are
filled with inspiration. :)

Thanks for the great track Peter! I'll think about the Albums, but I have to do my HSC first.
