Guitar Pro 4

What computer programs do you guys use to make music or just mess around with? I've got guitar pro 4 and, as an average music reader, I think it's pretty simple to use. My bassist has the Dream Theater anthology book with all the parts to a few songs. I transcribed all the drums to dance of eternity in like 4-5 hours. It's a really sweet program.

well, on my main pc i have Guitar Pro 4, Fruity Loops, and Cool Edit Pro.
that's all i can think of right now cause im not on my main computer right now.

I use Guitar Pro 4 to transcribe basic song ideas and then work on them further with other band members :) I think it's a really nice program, easy to use with lots of options. For wave-editing, I use Cool Edit Pro (also very nice:)).

P.S.: could I have your .gp4 file of Dance of Eternity? ;)

I used Finale 2004 up until recently, trying sibelius 3 now, and the other day someone showed me some decent guide tracks she made from garageband on the mac!

Well, I know nothing about sequencers or sample-based-work-station-plugin-dingamahoozits, but I did like messing around on Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 for a while, untill I realized that I was wasting massive amounts of time producing basically crap.

Plus I have no clue what I'm doing... I tried transcribing that crazy virg thingy... um... yeah, http://www.virgildonati.com/videos/highlights/highlights-mtlfest_111304_01.wmv that, and here's a screenshot of what I came up with...

I mean, wtf? anything beyond what lines up with 32nd notes is just... beyond it. Cannot compute. That sounded alright, whatever it was, but it was wrong. Now I think I get it... it's like... 12/16 w/ the left hand and hi-hat, and witht he right side, he's playing a 4/4 dealy that's like... modulated to the 11/16 of what he's doing on his left?

But yeah... midi-sequencing is no longer fun. :(

Hey im trying to upload the Dance of Eternity for Zsolt and anyone else who's interested but it says its an invalid type. Can anyone help me out?
