Any opinions on Mapex drums? I'm interested in buying a 6-piece Mapex. It is either that or a Pearl Export Select 7-piece. What should i get?

Buy which ever kit sounds the best 2 u. Don't listen with your eye's! Of course $ is a factor. So all so consider which kit gives u the most stuff, this will help when you are putting the rest of the kits componets together, stuff like stands, throne, cymbals, etc....

Thanks, I'm going for the Pearl because it also comes with three free boom stands, one straight stand and a free double pedal.... THATS A DEAL!!

the deal for your Pearl drums looks like they're trying to get you to buy thier kit cause theyre giving you free s**t...I think...they're trying to cover up for the..I dunno..the sound of the drums...reliability...?
We are all either victims, or victors, of THE GREAT DEAL. Pearl has been a strong name for a very long time, and Mapex, though stumbling here and there in the beginning, is fast becoming a 'drum household name' alongside Pearl, Yamaha, Tama, etc...
dont be surprised or upset if you get your GREAT DEAL home and are very dissapointed..no matter WHAT brand...CAVEAT EMPTOR.

Well I would get them from a store called Waddell's which is a local store. In their catolog they offer the free things when you buy the kits. I'll keep yinz posted on what I get. Yes, I'm from Pittsburgh home of the The Pittsburgh Steelers. I mean the Pittsburgh Stillers! :)

You have to tell me more.

Why are you looking to buy this kit? Do
you need it for work or for shedding?

Well right now I am playing my uncle's Ludwig Rockers which are outdated. They are the trditional 4-piece with an additional Slingerland 10x8 tom added on. I was holding on to them for him since he was building his new house. When he finishes, which is soon, he will have a soudproof room in his house for his boys to jam in when they are older. I need my own drumset is what I'm saying. I've had this drumset with 20 year-old drum heads on it since I haven't been able to afford drumheads because I would have to buy them (resposibility thing, it works!) It would be just for shredding purposes since I'm only 16. I also need a new set to do a show early next school year. Also what I meant was just shed some light about what you think about either company and any of your suggestions. I'm open to anything!:D

With all drummers, it has a lot to do with the sound you want. I think Mapex is a good brand and they do sound good.I went with the Pearl Masters for the excellent sound I really wanted. It is all very relative. As I say, get what catches your ear the most. Have some shredding fun on those Mapex drums kewlkat.
