Anyone know of a good metronome ? I'm thinking of getting a digital one that has volume control to hear over the drums. Any recommendations ? thanks.

my percussion instructor has a metranome that u can adjust volume and speeds with some nob and it can play accents, 8th notes, 16th notes, triplets, and even flams i think! its pretty cool. forgot who made it though..

that's probably the Dr. Beat Metronome... I think Boss makes it. I've found that the metronomes I've had will work with the Vic Firth isophones... as long as the metronome has a headphone jack, of course. If you don't have a set of them you should really look into getting them... they're awesome!

the Tama one is sweet but it cost a little around $100-$115

If all you really want is a click Id recomend a Tama click as mentioned above or a boss click. But if you want to have some fun but still work your timing,I would recomend getting a Zoom RythmTrak drum machine. There are three models, but you can program or just play pre recorded bass patterns. There are 99 User spaces where you can program your own stuff and it is also possible to program entire songs. Its great fun and can be really helpful in learning some new styles, check it out.

I have had the Yamaha Clickstation for about 5 months and cannot fault it, it gets used for 2 to 3 hours a day at least 6 days a week. Has many features that I use and is easy to use,I previously had a rythm watch by Tama which was good but I find the Yamaha is a little easier on batteries.
Got the rhythm at first but realised it wasnt what i wanted, then i got the zoom rythmtrak and never looked back! I have Donati riffs like quantum and alien hip programmed into it. im really happy with it :) (also got them vic phones, them da shit!)
Steve could you give us a review of the clickstation ?

Look into the Clickstation. This is what I use as well. I like the "Vibrate" feature so you can 'feel' the beat before playing your groove or whatever. At first I thought it was a gimmick or something, but it proved to be useful on some harder parts and stuff. It also helps you to really feel where the click is.
I don't really like the program features in there that much. Then again, I never really looked into it more than I should, but you can do a lot with that little machine.
You have the typical half-notes, triplets, 16ths volume fader for some intricate clicks as well as the accent volume fader.
It's a nice little machine and you can pretty much bring it anywhere.
Hope that helps! :)

if any 1 is jsut startign out and jstu needs a alittel somni to keep tiem to for 20 bucsk u can get a littel blue KORG metronome wich gives u basic tiem keeping click and is very well worth it. the only problem is that u cant hear it over the drum, but if u wer head phoens u can and that good. a good headphoenm i recomned is a vick firth headphoen that u can concet to cd palyes aadn stuff and to metronomes and thje sound is awsome. it runs around 50 bucks
