This study is a great conditioner for the feet.

There are three elements to the pattern. The Swiss Triplet in the first measure, the beat inserted between the doulbes in the second measure, and the single stroke played on beat 4 of the second measure to enable a turnaround.

Then the sequence begins again with the left foot leading in measure 3. Adding the 1/4 note groove with the hands will anchor the feel. You can then begin to come up with variations, and possibly even freely improvise over the foot pattern. I've also included the 1/4 note triplet variation which gives a nice feeling of modulation.

Now, let's add the hands.

Morphing to 1/4 note triplets with the hands creates a feeling of rhythmic modulation.
