For me, this pattern emerged from the sound created when playing one right hand and two right foot beats. I simply transposed my left foot for the second right foot stroke, and arrived at this very well articulated and powerful alternative. It is probably a good idea to also practice it as two right foot strokes, just to keep the right foot sharp with those doubles. When you are comfortable with the written exercises, try to invent different ways of combining it with other patterns as part of a fill.
