Hi, I know this question is a little late but, I'd like to ask the planetx fans what they thought of the show in palatine, il. if they liked the opening act, big electric, I've seen them several times over the years and I enjoy what they do, as there are few good local bands in the area that play good prog.
planetx was good, virgil was great as usual, but I was not a fan of the new guitar player, tony was missed and they can never seem to get a bassist that fits in well with them. any thoughts?

From every account I have heard the New bass player Rufus Philpot just kicks Tail! And Virg sure is Big on him. So I do not know maybe it is just down to a taste issue. And T.J. is a Great player just very different than Tony.

Hey, Virg was a monster at Palatine.
He has been lifting weights or something. His
arms are a lot bigger than the last time I saw him.
His Solo was not long enough ( never is ) and they did
Apocalypse and they ruled on it.
Rufus was a madman. I like him a lot. Great guy.
He is on the same par as Ric F.
Derek did great! He always kicks ass, but I wanted a Solo from him
and from TJ. You know all by theirselves!!!! Didn't get it!
TJ is a great guitarplayer but it sounded to me like
two keyboards were playing together and not a guitar and
a keyboard.
Personal tastes I suppose. I wanted heavy hit chords and I didn't get them.
He is fast and flawless as a tapper though.
Big Electric were OK. They played to long for a warm-up act I thought.
The drummer is talented but not Dynamic enough. Most of his stuff
sounded the same tempo-wise and volume-wise.
Again, it is my opinion.
