Here is an interesting and unique approach to playing flams. I was first made aware of this idea by Tom Float, who is a respected drum corps snare drummer.

This approach to playing flams, creates a distinctly different sound to flam strokes. In addition to the basic versions on the video, I have included
supplelmentary exercises in various tuplet combinations, which I use quite often in my playing. Hope you enjoy exploring the possibilities of ghost flaming.

When playing ghost flams, the grace note is placed in front of a secondary note. In other words, the flam is no longer the strongest beat of the pattern. Ghost flam patterns take more control than regular flams to execute, and care should be taken not to accent the flams.
