I'm sure we've all heard of them.
METROPHONES.
They're headphones with a built in metronome. Does anyone own these metrophones. Are they good for anything? Gimme your input.

I don't own any but they could be useful for practice. I find I drown out my metronome sometimes. So I guess it depends on what u already have. My metronome has an earphone jack so i stick that in my ear under my headphones sometimes, a kinda annoying way to do it imo.

I have been thinking about those too. I'm just wondering how effective isolation they offer.

yeah.. i was in westla music.. wondering if they have a good isolation.
but yes.. i tried them out. and you hear the click and the drumset. they have 29db of isolation.
they are the best investmen i´ve ever done. thanks to metrophones. i wanna practice everyday at everytime!

I have a pair and love them. I don't, however, use the built in metronome; I use them as headphones for my drum machine.

I find that the thing actually slows down as the volume is turned down, so the markings aren't accurate (maybe they've fixed this; my pair is a few years old).

Besides the metronome, they cut out about 30db of outside noise. You don't have to blow your head off with the click during recording. I think they're a sound investment.

I forget, how much are they? They sound good.
Kinetic drummer seems uber happy with them as well...

i bought mines.. but the guy from westla music made a discount. i paid 100 dollars plus taxes..
but i think and i guess they´re maximum, at 150 dollars.
even if the cost 200, i´d pay for them AGAIN.

That's the price here in Finland. :( But if they are so great it should be worth it.

200 for a metronome and headphones put together is pretty damn ridiculous.
I could see it as being maybe 40 or 50, but not 200. If they're 200, they're not worth it.
I could buy a couple of Sabian AA cymbals for that price and just say "piss on the metrophones".

Here were I live(Finland) the prices on music stuff are very high(taxes, transports). You said you could get a couple of sabian aa symbals for that price. Well, I would get one sabian aa chrash for that price. So you are very lucky where ever you live(U.S.A?), at least when we talk about instruments.

I could buy some earmuffs, small headphones, and a Quik time metronome for 15 bucks at the least, and probobly get just as good quality. Though, Quik time metronomes come through only one earphone :(

I just got the LCD model a couple of weeks ago from music123.com.
I paid about 120$, (+50$ for international shipping and handling  )
But even that is about 30$ less(!) than what the Studio Kans (the cheapest model)cost here in Norway.
I'm very satified with them tho I haven't used the built in metronome very much. I just don't get confortable with the "click". It's not that it's a unconfortable sound but I'm used to the audio click from my Cubase SX wich I use whenever i record (or just want a click-track).
The main thing about these babys are the isolation, not only do they cut out a lot, but the drumsound that comes through is very good, the drums sound almost EQ'ed.
When I practise to music, I only need half the volume in my metrophones as with my Beyerdynamics DT 150 wich are concidered relativily isolating. (The Beyers sound better tho.)

@paas: If you are thinking of bying the METROPHONES I suggest you check
up with some dealers in the US e.g. music123.com

@Lad.: You could probably get a couple of sabian AAs for that price, BUT would they prevent you from damaging your hearing? What's the price tag on your ears?
I concider my ears to be worth a lot more than 200$

i have a pair of the best version they make with the metronome, the head phone. blah blah.....one of the pads broke on me, they metronome died (i think the transducers got full of sweat)...i replaced the heqadphone parts already...and the 1/8 jack shorted out on me...3 months after the warranty expired...they are good though...I think i am just hard on my gear...now they are hardwired and have new headphone transducers and I pulled the metronome out....still use them to record though, they isolate really well..waiting on new water filled pads though..had to order direct, no music store had any idea what i was talking about....
