I've always found the paradiddle to be one of the most practical rudiments applied to the drum set. Playing it in triplet form gives it a different perspective, but it does require some practice to understand where the beats fall in relation to the meter.

Once you've mastered that, you can apply it to the drum set in many interesting ways, and by learining to play different parts with the feet, You will discover a world of rhythmic possibilities.

Your first objective should be to master playing the paradiddle as triplets, as in #2 and #3.

Adding the hi-hat pedal and bass drum parts gives it perspective.
